Willie B. Richardson Scholarship

About the Scholarship

The Willie B. Richardson Scholarship honors Willie Richardson (1948-2023), who co-chaired Oregon Black Pioneers’ founding Board of Directors in the mid-1990s and served as OBP’s President from 2004 through 2021. This scholarship offers one $1000 award annually to a college-bound Black high school senior residing in Oregon who has demonstrated an interest in Black history, preferably Oregon’s Black history.

For eligibility and application information, please visit the Willie B. Richardson Scholarship page of the Salem Foundation website. Completed applications are due April 30, 2024.

The Scholarship fund is a restricted fund, separate from Oregon Black Pioneers’ general operations. It is managed by the Salem Foundation, with selection committee members from the Richardson family, friends of Willie, and the Oregon Black Pioneers Board of Directors.
