Are you a K-12 classroom-based educator looking for ways to incorporate Oregon’s Black history into your curriculum?
This Juneteenth, Oregon Black Pioneers will host its first ever Educator Workshop! This free event is limited to 30 participants, and registration is required by June 15th. Participating teachers will receive a $100 stipend, and breakfast and lunch are provided!
Participants will…
-
- Learn how to implement Oregon Black Pioneers curriculum through modeled, inquiry-based, culturally sustaining teaching practices
- Experience a guided walking tour that situates Black Oregonian history in physical place
- Work collaboratively to find ways to translate learning directly into curriculum/classroom experience
Facilitated by Oregon Black Pioneers’ Education Manager Dr. Jesse Hendryx-Dobson, this workshop will include hands-on instruction for using OBP’s standards-aligned lessons and educational materials. We welcome all K-12 classroom-based educators who want to deepen their understanding of Oregon’s Black history and incorporate it meaningfully into their teaching. As part of our commitment to supporting and sustaining diverse teaching communities, we will prioritize space for Black educators and educators of color, but all are welcome to apply.
