The Letitia Carson Legacy Project (LCLP) is a collaborative effort between Oregon Black Pioneers, Black Oregon Land Trust (BOLT), Mudbone Grown, the Linn-Benton NAACP, and Oregon State University’s Center for Resilient Agriculture and Food Systems (CRAFS). Together, we are committed to honoring, preserving and sharing the remarkable story of Letitia Carson, one of Oregon’s first Black homesteaders.
The LCLP went through an impressive growth spurt in 2025. From quite literally blazing a new trail that leads to the Letitia Carson Homestead Site, to hiring our first official LCLP Coordinator, we’ve been booked and busy answering the call for place-based history programming.
We’re so grateful to the Oregon Black Pioneers community for supporting us through each phase of our evolution. We look forward to continuing to grow and carrying this abundance sustainably into 2026, while sharing our progress with the community along the way.
